The Governor has declared that a “state of disaster” exists throughout Texas due to wildfire risks.
As of 9:00 AM this morning, the Cameron County Fire Marshall has NOT issued a burn ban for the County; however, no burn permits are being issued at this time due to the windy conditions. Decisions on allowing outdoor burning will be made day-to-day basis.
The County action affects only burning for which a permit is required, mainly burning of agricultural and yard waste. Activities for which permits are not required under the TCEQ rules –– such as recreational, cooking, warming, and ceremonial fires — are not banned at this time. Letter from the Governor
